Swimming Scoreboard is a free, open-source project. We aim to collect as little information as possible about people viewing meet results.
Information we don't collect
- We don't require you to create an account or sign in to watch a meet.
- We don't collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
- We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that build a profile of you across sites.
- We don't sell or share viewer data with anyone.
Information we do process
To deliver the live scoreboard, our servers and our hosting provider process standard request information such as your IP address, the meet ID in the URL you opened, your browser's user-agent string, and request timestamps. This is used to route live results to the right viewers, to keep the service available, and to investigate abuse. These records are retained only as long as needed for those operational purposes.
Meet data — events, heats, swimmer names, times, and team codes — is provided by the meet host's timing system. We display that data while a meet is live and keep a small amount of it in transient server memory and short-lived caches so the page loads quickly. Meet hosts control what data is published.
Cookies
The public scoreboard pages do not set tracking cookies. We may use short-lived session storage in your browser to remember view preferences (for example, whether you've dismissed an in-page banner).
Children
Because swim meets often involve children, we are particularly careful to limit what is collected from viewers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child's personal information is being displayed inappropriately by a meet host, contact the host directly to have it removed at the source.
Open source
The source code that powers this service is available on GitHub. You can inspect exactly what the software does and how data flows.
